A Photographic Exhibition at the Southwest Environmental Center

Converge Las Cruces Art Gallery, located at the Cottonwood Gallery in Southwest Environmental Center in Las Cruces, New Mexico, announces Sky Eyes - A View From Above, a juried group photography exhibition at The Southwest Environmental Center.

 

This exhibition will examine our environment and ourselves from a birds eye view, a place from above. Eligible photos can be from (but not limited to) airplanes, drones, balloons, blimps, buildings, kites, mountain tops, poles, and rockets.

 

The exhibition will run from August 1, 2019 to September 13, 2019 at the Southwest Environmental Center, a member-supported, grassroots conservation organization based in Las Cruces, New Mexico. Converge Las Cruces will donate 10% of the entry fees to further The Southwest Environmental mission to protect and restore native wildlife and their habitats in the Southwestern borderlands, through advocacy, education and on-the-ground projects.

 

Jurors
Mauro Altamura is a visual artist and fiction writer who has exhibited nationally and internationally. He's received grants and fellowships from the National Endowment for the Arts, the New Jersey State Council on the Arts, and the New York State Council on the Arts, among others. His work is in private and public collections throughout the United States. He was a professor at New Jersey City University until September 2017 and has taught at many other institutions, including John Cabot University in Rome. 

 

Deborah Sperry is the Director of Exhibitions at Converge Las Cruces. She has a B.F.A is sculpture from New Jersey City University and has exhibited widely, including a national show at the International Sculpture Center in New Jersey.  

 

Rules/Guidelines

The photographers who are selected into the exhibition will be asked to provide a high resolution JPEG file for Converge Las Cruces gallery to print. Each image selected will be sized at 300 dpi 18" (5400 pixels) on the long side. We will professionally print one image each on satin finished paper using a Epson archival ink jet printer. The images will be printed on 16” x 20” satin paper and hung with a top and bottom print hanger. All exhibition prints will be kept in a flat file after the close of the exhibition to further promote the participating photographers. Converge Las Cruces will shred all gallery prints after one (1) year.

 

Upon acceptance, the artist will be asked to upload a high quality JPEG image at 5400 pixels at the longest dimension in the Adobe RGB color space. Converge Las Cruces will print only one print. The photographer will be notified before any sale to confirm edition information, and to arrange the authentication document to be signed that will go to the collector. The photographer will have the choice of providing a print directly to the customer or having Converge Las Cruces provide the print. 

All rights remain with the photographer. Exhibition prints will not be sold, but will stay in our flat file for promotion of the photographer. 

Converge Las Cruces has the right to use any image for promotion purposes (email blast, post cards, web/print ads, etc.)

Converge Las Cruces will take a 30% commission on all sales.

Photographers will be notified 7-10 days after juror selections
